Vision and Mission

Our Vision and Mission

The Lincoln County Academy of Medicine (LCAM) established in 1956 is the local branch of the OMA.  It is comprised of family physicians, hospitals and community-based specialists within the boundaries of St. Catharines and Thorold.

It has functioned as a forum for fellowship and to address issues affecting physicians, hospitals and the health care system.

VISION:  A unified voice for a vibrant, healthy and involved medical profession and community.

MISSION: To provide education, leadership and social venues for physicians in their professional and personal endeavours and to promote healthcare in the community.

The LCAM serves an important role for all physicians and allied health care providers in St. Catharines and the surrounding area.  We assist our members in public complaints’ resolution and we advocate for and on behalf of physicians to all three levels of government: federal, provincial and municipal.  This work helps to ensure that our elected political leaders are aware of our concerns, issues and ideas.

Our annual clinic day continues to deliver relevant and high quality continuing medical education credits right here in our region.  We have successfully completed our first virtual CME event which was met with very positive feedback from our members and all contributing participants.

The Academy also hosts events throughout the year such as our summer social and holiday party and Children’s Christmas party, etc.  We are exploring options to hold virtual events and we will keep you posted as our plans become clear.

These activities provide area physicians with the opportunity to network with their colleagues socially and also provides a venue to establish and maintain professional relationships.

It is important that physicians in St. Catharines and surrounding area continue to have an active Academy to meet their needs, whether it be in the political arena by providing educational opportunities or through networking and social events.

I and members of the board are currently leading the activities of the LCAM and I am asking you to also take an active role in leading our Academy. If you would consider being involved in the work we do within our community and joining as a member please call me at 905.328.3812 or by email at raymond.harb@sympatico.ca.

Sincerely
